What do the results mean?
The results mark a strong performance for the NDA, particularly in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party’s five-seat performance provides an important opposition presence in Uttar Pradesh. Jan Suraaj’s entry into the Bihar Legislative Council and the opposition victories in Maharashtra were among the notable developments.
These results reflect voting in the specific Graduate and Teachers’ constituencies contested. They should not be treated as a direct measure of voting preferences across the entire population of these states.
The 2026 MLC elections concluded with an overall advantage for the NDA, alongside significant opposition victories and new political representation in the Legislative Councils.
