A suspected explosion damaged railway infrastructure on the Anupgarh–Suratgarh railway section in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district late Tuesday night, November 3, prompting a security investigation and temporary disruption to passenger services.

Passenger Train Had Passed Before the Incident

The incident was reported near 50 GB village in the Ramsinghpur area, close to the India–Pakistan border. Two concrete blocks supporting the railway track were damaged, and reports described a crater approximately two feet deep. Railway sleepers and track components were also reported damaged.

According to reports, a passenger train had passed through the affected stretch shortly before the explosion was heard. The precise timing differs across reports. Residents reportedly alerted authorities after hearing a loud sound.

Railway Services Cancelled

North Western Railway suspended services on the affected section while safety inspections and investigative work were carried out. Reports identified two passenger services between Suratgarh and Anupgarh among those cancelled on November 4. The disruption was described as a precautionary measure.

Police and Forensic Teams Examine the Site

Police, railway officials and security agencies reached the affected stretch. Forensic Science Laboratory experts were called to collect and examine evidence. Reports also identified the involvement of ATS, CID and Bomb Disposal Squad teams.

Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Harishankar said it was too early to determine the exact nature of the incident. Investigators are examining the evidence before reaching a conclusion about what caused the damage.

No Confirmed Link to Recently Recovered RDX

The incident has attracted additional attention because of the recent recovery of approximately 7.5 kg of RDX in the border region. However, the SP said no connection between the railway incident and the recovered RDX had been established so far.

Cause and Responsibility Yet to Be Established

As of November 4, the precise cause of the damage, the material involved and whether the railway infrastructure was deliberately targeted remain unconfirmed. No responsible individual or group has been officially identified, and no motive has been established.

Reports of a possible attempt to target a passenger train remain investigative possibilities rather than confirmed conclusions. The forensic examination and findings from investigating agencies are expected to provide further clarity.

NationalList India will update this report as verified information becomes available.
