Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper on November 1, adding an overnight service between Karnataka's capital and Mumbai. The train connects Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal in Bengaluru with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and serves several intermediate cities along the route.
Reports citing South Western Railway identify the service as India's third Vande Bharat Sleeper connection. The launch is a new development separate from earlier announcements about railway approvals and train manufacturing.
A route connecting more than two cities
The reported stopping pattern includes Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan. That makes the route relevant to passengers travelling between intermediate centres as well as those completing the full Bengaluru–Mumbai journey.
The service passes through parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. For cities along the line, its practical value depends on the arrival time, availability of accommodation and connections at either end of a passenger's journey.
An overnight timetable can offer a different travel option from a daytime train. It does not, however, make the same choice suitable for every passenger. Total journey time also includes reaching the station, onward travel and any waiting between connections.
What has been announced about the train
The service is identified by train numbers 27651 and 27652 and uses a 16-coach sleeper formation. Reporting describes accommodation in three air-conditioned classes, rather than the seated configuration familiar from many Vande Bharat services.
The announced end-to-end journey is approximately 16 hours. That is a scheduled duration, not a guarantee that every run will arrive at precisely the same time. Operational conditions and timetable changes can affect actual journeys.
Reports also distinguish the inaugural special from the regular service. The ceremonial first run should not be used as the timetable for later departures. A passenger needs the schedule attached to the booked train and date.
Why travel dates need a final check
Coverage of the launch contains inconsistent descriptions of the first regular departure from each city. Some accounts reverse the starting dates, while other reports align them with the stated weekly non-running days.
For that reason, this article does not present an unverified first-departure date as a booking instruction. Passengers should confirm their selected service in the official railway booking system or current railway notice before arranging connecting travel.
